12 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 24, 2010 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS Al CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Town Election Ballot Question: <br /> Regardffig the non-binding question which appeared on the May 2010 <br /> Election ballot asking the following: Shall the Town Ii it the purpose for <br /> which the Stabilization Fund may be appropriated to extraordinary and <br /> unanticipated expenses of the Town, including funding of unanticipated <br /> capital needs, it was disclosed that 589 residents voted in favor, 283 were <br /> opposed, and 209 ballots were left blares. <br /> Ap o*ntrnent of Seasonal ffiloyee' .—DPW: <br /> W: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -o. <br /> Roll Call vote: <br /> Selectman Cook,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes <br /> Selectman Richardson,yes Selectman Taylor,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes opposed, none <br /> Discussion followed regarding the Department of Public Works and the <br /> present stafmg needs. As a result,the Selectmen were requested to <br /> consider hiring two seasonal employees. It was noted that one DPW <br /> employee is presently on medical leave for at least 8 weeks, and one <br /> employee has recently retired. Temporary staffmg limits unemployment <br /> benefits and would greatly assist the department during the peA activity <br /> of summer months. <br /> Motion made by Selectmen Taylor to approve the hiring of <br /> temporary seasonal employee's to the DP's. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: -1.-Motion carries. <br /> Selectman Cahalane opposed. <br /> F <br /> .oil Call vote: <br /> Selectman Cook,yes Selectman Cahalane,no <br /> Selectman Richardson,yes Selectman Taylor,yes <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes opposed, 1 <br />
