2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 4.2010 <br /> Present: Selectman Cook, Selectman Cahalane, Selectman Richardson, <br /> Selectman Taylor, Selectman Sherman <br /> Town Manager Joyce Mason <br /> i Me ting Called to Order by Chairman Cook at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Conference Room#I <br /> APP INTM[E1 TS &HEARINGS: <br /> Public+ oxnrnn : <br /> John's Pond resident Bill Martiros commented on the problems effecting <br /> John's Pond. lir. Martiros indicated the troubles in.John's Pond are far <br /> worse than Santuit Pond. Several concerns included the boat launch ramp <br /> located at John's Pond Estates, the state boat launch rarnp at Hoophole <br /> Road,and the ramp at Briarwood. Mr. Martiros also indicated that a <br /> containment trench from Otis AFB also drains into the pond' In addition, <br /> Moody Pond runs into John's fond, and water from a state trench made <br /> with bluestone located on Algonquin Road flows directly into the pond. <br /> Mr. Martiros also stated that since the water levels have not been <br /> maintained at the cranberry bogs, the shoreline has been undermined. A <br /> a result,he has lost approximately ' of property frontage. Mr. Martiros <br /> informed the Board that over the years, John's Pond has deteriorated. <br /> Beim,public comment only,the Town Manager requested Mr;Martiros <br /> forward his list of his concerns to the Office of the Selectmen Town <br /> Manager for additional review. The matter will be referred to the <br /> Environmental Oversight Committee. <br /> Ln other natters, Lynda Carroll of the Mashpee Food Pantry met before <br /> the Selectmen to request consideration to use the basement at the Main <br /> `ire Station. Ms. Carroll indicated she expects to move from The <br /> Mashpee village soon, and no one has come forward to offer a site <br /> location for the Mashpee Food Pantry. <br /> In concern to they plight,the Town Manager indicated that presently there <br /> is no space available. In response to the request to use the basement of the <br /> 4 fire station Mrs. Mason indicated that it is not handicapped accessible for <br /> use as a food pantry. In an attempt to offer ars alternative, it was noted <br /> there are two food pantries in the Town of Mashpee. Confidential <br /> outreach can also be obtained from the Hunan Services Director and <br /> Human Services Committee. The Falmouth Service Center also supplies <br /> food to many Mashpee residents. <br />
