Kerfo o t, Chairman
Falmouth Planning Board
59 Town Hall square
Falmouth, MA 02540 +
Dear Ms. Kerfoot:
Thank you for your letter of Dccember 7, 2010 requesting that the t l County
Cornrnissxoners consider'a District of Critical.PIan.ning Conde DCPC for Wind Energy
governing the towns of Falmouth, Bourse, Mashpee and Sandwich.
As you know, wind energy has been a much discussed topic ay the County level. The Assembly
of Delegates recently debated and rejected amendments to the Cape Cod Commission enabling
regulations that would have provided-some level of regulation over wind t rbin s. The re'ection
was based on a concern that the regulations did not go far enough, and the Assembly proposed
that a Cape-wide DCPC on Wind Energy be developed. The Co=issi hers are awaiting the
Cape Cod Co=Ission's response to this proposal which may negate the reed for the Upper
Cape request.
In addition, the Coinmissioners are requesting that the Falmouth Planning Board seek the support
of the Falmouth Board of Selectmen for any DCPC Wind Energy designation. The
Commissioners will be asking each of the Boards of Selectmen in the other three towns for
similar- support to the DCPC designation.
I f you have any comments or questions, or would file to discuss.thi S matter further, please do not
hesitate to con tact either mys If or the Commissioners.
Sincerely,
E.
