4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 2 , 2011 <br /> APPOINTMENTS&HEARINGS <br /> ArrmeriCgMs—Update: <br /> Representatives from AmeriCorps Cape Cod discussed their commitment to <br /> address the critical environmental and disaster needs of Barnstable County. The <br /> organization partners with not-profit agencies,municipalities and connunity <br /> organizations to provide service in the area of Natural resource Management, <br /> Disaster Preparedness and Response, Community Education and volunteer <br /> Engagement. <br /> In l ashpee, AmeriCorps has recently assisted with shellfish propagation, and <br /> trail maintenance. AmeriCorps has also participated in the Water Festival <br /> presented to the Mashpee Public Schools. <br /> The AmeriCorps Cape Cod is presently accepting proposals for group service <br /> projects in the 2011 service year. Where is no cost to the community for <br /> AmeriCorps services. <br /> Jessica Erickson,a member of the AmeriCorps Advisory Board, and <br /> Administrator of The Soo Committee encouraged the Town of 1 rl shpee to <br /> continue their relationship with AmeriCorps Cape Cod. <br /> Attorney Patrick Costello—Boffego.Contract: <br /> `own Counsel Patrick Costello was in attendance to recommend the Selectmen <br /> approve the contract Agreement with Borrego Solar Systems to design,construct, <br /> install,own,maim, and operate solar energy systems to provide electricity to <br /> the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Attorney Costello indicated the Agreement will serve as a template for other <br /> com riunities in the Mate of Massachusetts. <br /> Construction is expected to begin in Enid to late June after the design of the 3 <br /> photovoltaic systems which together constitute the single System which is the <br /> subject of the Agreement and the Lease. Construction at the Ilashpee High <br /> School shall not begin until after the end of the school year to alleviate disruption <br /> during the school year. <br />
