Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 22, 2011 <br /> OLDBUSINESS: <br /> Town Meeting Warrant Review—Drab#2: <br /> The Board of Selectmen reviewed draft#2 of the October 17,2011 Town Meeting <br /> Warrant. The articles previously placed on Hold were acted upon as follows; <br /> Article: To see if the.Town will vote to appropriate and transfer from the <br /> Community Preservation Fund, 3 5 7,000 for the purposes of funding the Santuit <br /> Pond Restoration Project by using ars artificial.aeration and circulation system. <br /> Allen Waxman, 35 Santuit Pond Road indicated that he has been an advocate of a <br /> green-solution for the preservation of Santuit Pond for the past 2.5 years. Mr. <br /> Waxman explained the original application presented to the Community <br /> Preservation Committee specified the use of a solar powered solution to reduce <br /> the algae growth through artificial circulation of the pond. Late-filed was <br /> correspondence from a competitor regarding alternative technology for the <br /> remediation of Santuit Pond using electrical power to provide circulation vs. the <br /> use of solar powered circulation. Mr. Waxman indicated he cannot advocate for <br /> noir-green solution and advised that voters at Town Meeting may not approve <br /> the use of an electrical alternative. <br /> To.alleviate any misconceptions, the Town Manager indicated that Mashpee is a <br /> Green Community and the RFP that is presently being written would request <br /> quotes for solar powered systems. It was agreed the dry RFP would be <br /> presented to the Board of Selectmen and Friends of Santuit Pond for additional <br /> review i approximately to weeks. <br /> Ken Malloy of Cotuit spoke of behalf of the late Edward Baker, who was a foyer <br /> member of the 1lashpee Environmental Coalition and advocate for Santuit Fond. <br /> Mr. Malloy stated that it is hopeful the Board of Selectmen and Finance. <br /> Con nittee would support the Town Meeting article.
