r
MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION
Town Hall
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
11/22/11
Mr. Wayne Taylor Chairman
Mashpee Board of Selectmen
Town Hall
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
Dear Wayne;
Re: Richard Cook Aquaculture License, Popponesset Bay
The Waterways Commission passed a motion and wishes to inform you that we held two information
exchanges regarding Mr. Cook's application for Grant space in the Bay. The Commission determined
that the application as submitted by Mr. Cook, would not have a negative impact on waterways in the
Bay. Please note that Mr.Cook's verbal agreement with the Commission to remove his equipment
when required for a maintenance dredge of the 1916 Channel has to be adhered to. The following
.requirements should be addressed by the BOS should a permit/license be issued to the Applicant:
1) 8 Markers would be required to be installed and maintained for marking the Grant Area,4
corners and 4 sides, (locations as directed by the Harbormaster). Maintaining the markers at
their correct locations would be the responsibility of the Applicant.
2) The tract (Grant Area) would be required to be modified to accommodate a 155' setback from
the Inner/South Channel and 100' from the Town Boundary. Detailed drawings should be
prepared by the Applicant to show Grant Area GPS or GIS coordinates. Additional coordinates
shall be shown on the Applicants drawing noting locations of Grant Area markers.
3) Upon notification by the Town the Applicant will remove all gear from the Grant Area so as not
to interfere with dredging. The Town will provide notification of a dredge approximately one
year in advance of the dredge.
If you have any questions regarding the above please contact the writer.
Regards,
Ken Bates Chairman—Mashpee Waterways Commission
