i 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Mnutes <br /> January 9,-2012 <br /> AFFTNTMENTS & HEARINGS: <br /> Sever Administrator--Update: <br /> Fain Gobell,the newly appointed Sever Administrator introduced himself to the <br /> Board of Selectmen and gave a brief update on upcoming matters pertaining to <br /> sever. Mr. Gobell indicated he intends to maintain an open line o <br /> communication with the water District on all issues and is looking forward to <br /> working with the Town and District. Presently,Mr. Gobell is revie wing all of the' <br /> options and updating himself on this challenging endeavor. <br /> Waterways Commission—Mash ee River Dred in <br /> Ken Bates Waterways Commission Chair was before the Board to discuss the <br /> dredging of the l ashpee River Entrance, a project the Waterways Commission <br /> has spent many months reviewing. As the project was discussed, the Board of <br /> Selectmen indicated that the Maspee River and Entrance should be dredged. <br /> The projected cost of the M shpee River Entrance dredge is $1,000,000. <br /> It was noted that$801,000 presently exists in the Waterways ways budget earmarked for <br /> engineering fees associated to permitting. It is expected that penn.itting approvals <br /> would take approximately two years. This time frame would allow the <br /> Waterways Commission to review alternative methods of disposing the sediment, <br /> and matters associated to the reduction of budgetary constraints. It was agreed the <br /> financial team and capital improvement program committee would reviewing <br /> ( ding matters associated to the full dredging proposal. <br />
