The lien shall tale effect <br /> upon the recording of the order stating that betterments are to be assessed for the <br /> improvement. If a town elects to send notice to the owner of the land assessed <br /> indicating the amount of the assessment for the betterment, and the owner pays <br /> the amount due, no.lien shall be recorded. <br /> i 1t was noted that approximately 20% of M shpee residents tend to pay the <br /> betterment to alleviate interest from accruing. The payment of the betterment is <br /> shown on the tax bill and no further notation or demand is made on the assessed <br /> land. There is a$75 release fee irn osed the Barnstable Count is of <br /> p y y � <br /> Deeds to dissolve the lien. The Collector of Takes shall charge $4 for each <br /> certificate issued and the funds are'deposited into the Town treasury. <br /> If the Town were to defer the recording for 30 days, a vote would be required to <br /> approve Section 12 of Chapter 80 at the October 2012 Town Meeting. <br /> i <br /> i <br />
