The project pia ni g area <br /> includes the Town of Mashpee,the Waquolt Bay watershed which includes parts <br /> of Sandwich and Falmot d the Ppnt Bay watershed whichincludes <br /> sections of Barstable and Sandwich. <br /> The recommended flan of Approach includes taking the lead with shellfish <br /> aquaculture, utiliAng Joint Base Cape Cod, utillz <br /> *mg <br /> Site 4 for ftwtment and <br /> recharge to address the needs around Route 28 and long-term monitoring, <br /> modeling and reporting of water quality* <br /> Additional flan components include the potential for a new wastewater treatment <br /> facility(Site 6)and recharge sites at New Seabury and Willovbend, <br /> improvements and modifloations to existing wastewater treatment facilities,the <br /> coordination between neighboring towns, " ' g a level of existing onsite <br /> systems and the Cape Cod Commission 208 plannin and adaptive management. <br /> The oversew gave an indication of the estimated nitrogen to be removed by . <br /> shellfish,respectively with oysters and quahogs. In Popponesset Bay, Ockway <br /> Bay, mat River,Jehu Pond and Hamblin Pond, 100%of existing wastewater <br /> nitrogen is anticipated to be removed with shellfish. Fid percent of existing <br /> wastewater nitrogen is expected to be removed in the Mashpee River and <br /> Shoestring Bay watersheds with shellfish. Where is no potential for shellfish to <br /> remove nitrogen from the Quashnet River. <br /> ,As noted, achieving the Tom Maximum Daily Load(TMDL)requirement in the <br /> Plan is dependent upon shellfish performance to remove nitrogen upon harvest. <br /> The annual cost support Shellfish Aquaculture is$1. mnillion. <br /> Mr. Fudala respectfully requested the Boyd of Selectmen vote to submit the plan <br /> forreView by ME A, DBP and the Cape Cod Co ssi n..
