Recycling Committee <br /> May 15, 2013 Minutes <br /> Members present: June Levy, Sheldon Gilbert, Marion Baler, Chuck Gasior, Glen Darrington <br /> Others: Jon Lewitt <br /> Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.. <br /> Minutes - <br /> The minutes from the September 19, 2012 meeting were approved. <br /> PAT Discussion <br /> Sandwich is the only Town on Cape Cod currently with a PAYT program. Brewster and wellfleet <br /> have both voted to implement PAYT--start dates are in the fall. A number of other towns are <br /> considering it. Mashpee has received approximately $23,000 in grant funds from DEP to help <br /> with implementation of PAIN, if approved by the Selectmen. <br /> Discussion of Recycling Bylaw/Hauler Recycling <br /> The Board of Health is still considering recycling bylaw. The Board is proposing to increase <br /> education on the states waste parrs for voluntary compliance. DEP has also hired additional <br /> staff for enforcement <br /> Recycling <br /> The Committee discussed promoting opportunities to recycle hard to manage waste. This <br /> includes textiles, plastic hags, Styrofoam, and bulky waste. Some opportunities are already <br /> available but are not being utilized to the fullest extent. opportunities for recycling other items <br /> such as plastic hags and Styrofoam may be more difficult. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.. <br /> Respectively submitted, <br /> Catherine Laurent <br />
