Y , <br /> 1`s <br /> r <br /> Recycling Com i"ttee <br /> October 28, 2013 Minutes <br /> Members Present: June Levy, Sheldon Gilbert, Marion-Baler, Chuck asior <br /> Others: Mike Richardson, Selectman <br /> Joyce Mason, Town Manager <br /> An ilia Bieg, MHS Senior <br /> Suzanne Avtges, MHS Teacher <br /> Jon Leavitt , -r <br /> Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 8:30 p.m.. <br /> I mutes <br /> The minutes from the May 15, 2013 meeting were approved, <br /> PAYT Discussion <br /> Two additional Cape towns have adopted PAYT. Bre ster's program began October 1. <br /> Wellfleet's program begins December 1.. The Committee-reviewed and commented on a draft <br /> presentation for a i ashpee PAYT program. The permit fee would he reduced from $110 per <br /> year to $45. The proposed hag fees are comparable to ether towns, The Committee noted <br /> there right he a concern with the costs for larger households or families' that generate more <br /> trash. They suggested including in the presentation estimated annual costs for households. <br /> Recycling Ad Campaign <br /> Recycling at the Transfer Station for the year to date has decreased. The Committee discussed <br /> an advertising campaign to increase participation. The focus over the next.few months will he <br /> on bulky items and holiday recycling. There was an issue with contamination of the rigid <br /> plastics so collection had temporarily stopped. This can return with never signage. Education on <br /> textile recycling will also he provided. Other suggestions from the Committee included a semi- <br /> annual newsletter, articles in the Mashpee Enterpriser and Working with the schools. <br /> The ,meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m., <br /> Respectively submitted, <br /> Catherine Laurent <br />
