Also Present, <br /> Fruth Elias, Chairman John Cahalane Mary Pat Messmer, CEO, Cape Cod <br /> Janie Walford, vice Chairman Mary Bradbury Child Development <br /> Elinor Glener, Clerk Gail Wilson, Human Services Director <br /> Lynne Waterman <br /> Mary Scanlan <br /> Veronica Warden <br /> Kathy Uhler-Faris <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Fruth Elias called the meeting to order at 2:00 Pull. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT— None. <br /> i NEIN BUSINESS <br /> Guest Presenter: Marry Pat Messmer, CEO, Cape Cod Child Development <br /> Mary Pat Messmer introduced herself to the Committee, and expressed her thanks for the Mashpe <br /> Human Services support given to her agency over the past. In the past year: this support has <br /> served 116 Mashpeefamilies who have come for services. Ms. Messmer stated that the Cape Cod <br /> Child Development ent agency serves about 3,000 families/individuals per year, encompassing the <br /> entire Cape & Islands. Ms. Messmer summarized her agency as a support for families and children <br /> from the ages of-birth through twelve. Programs offered include the following: <br /> - Head Mart Programs <br /> -Teem Moms <br /> - Day Aare Center Service <br /> - Family Child Care— Mashpee has 3 providers for birth through,5 tri grade for child care service <br /> Teen Parent Program, followed until 21 years of age. <br /> Fatherhood Service <br /> - Grandparents raising Grandchildren cases <br /> - Teen Fathers <br /> Ills. Messmer suggested some ways in which the Human Services Committee could offer assistance <br /> to the Child Development agency over and above financial support.- <br /> - <br /> upport.- Reading' Program — volunteer in schools to work with children <br /> - Knit Group - Knits mittens and harts for children <br /> - A need to better collaborate with Tribal members a Head Start program: needed) <br /> Funding Sources for the-Cape Cod Child Development program: <br /> - Head Start is federally funded <br /> - Dept. of Early Education funds <br /> 1 <br />
