The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> Food Drive for Oct. 20th Town Meeting <br /> Gail Wilson reported the notification to the Ilahpee Enterprise to include a notice of the Food Drive <br /> at the high school prior to the Town Meeting on 10/20/14. Veronica Warden volunteered again this <br /> year to pick up the donations at the high school on Tuesday morning, 10121/14 for distribution. Mary <br /> Bradbury volunteered to assist Ills. Warden with the distribution. <br /> Sub-Committee update Reports <br /> - Great Applications. Janie Walford reported on a meeting together with Fruth Elias and <br /> Barnstable County Resource Development Officer Bobbi Moritz. Themeeting was initiated to <br /> receive re ommendati ns for acquiring grants, and the discussion was built on "talking points" based <br /> n a reeds assessment survey completed in 2013. Priorities included gathering feedback on human <br /> services needs from other town departments, assigning an individual to be a community relations <br /> coordinator, and distributing brochures on the services offered by the dep rtment. The Human <br /> Services Department needs to create greater awareness of its existence aid the services it can offer <br /> to residents in need. Lack of transportation Is a leading barrier to gaining access to services for all <br /> ages. A possible grant application might request the need for funds to provide bus service to those <br /> in reed of transportation. <br /> In addition to increasing visibility, the Committee warts to prioritize expanding food service <br /> accessibility. Discussion followed as to using the Human Services office as a drop-off location for <br /> food donations, with the idea that members of the Human Services Committee would volunteer to <br /> distribute the donated items once per weep. John Cahalane cautioned the need to be prepared t <br /> follow through on the project once it was offered. <br /> Bobbi Moritz and Beth Albert* Director of the Barnstable County Human Services Department, are <br /> scheduled to meet on October 21, 2014 to discuss Mashpee's needs assessment and possible <br /> grants, and will report back to Ruth Elms. <br /> - <br /> Marketing. s b ommittee members Veronica Warden and Elinor Glener offered their <br /> recommendations for designing a bullet-type brochure for distribution to locations throughout <br /> Mashpee, with information about the Human Services Department offerings. Suggestions were <br /> made for content and layout of the brochure. clary Bradbury stated that she has a huge database <br /> for distribution of such information. Barnstable County Print shop as wellas the I lashpee High ` <br /> School print shop were recommended as inexpensive options' to consider for having the brochures <br /> produced. <br /> Coordinator's Report— Highlights <br /> - Attended Human Rights Commission meeting on Oct. 6, 2014 with speaker Paula Sohnapp. <br /> Them is still a waiting list for emergency housing for domestic violence cases. <br /> - Distributed copies of the Bullying brochure to Town Mall, the liashpee Police station, Mashpee <br /> Library and Recreation Dept. for the (ids Klub, and is being distributed to guidance department <br /> across Cape Cod. <br /> wo Invited by Brenda Swain to'attend Falmouth service Center Board of Directors Annual Meeting on <br /> 10/15/2014.
