I
MASHPEE SCHOOL MMITTEE MINUTES
POLICY SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING
SEP. 29, 2014
Present were: Joan Oliver, Geoff Gorman, Lindsay Kett, Superintendent
Brian Hyde, and Lann nO'Brien. ,
Meeting began at 3:10 PM in the Superintendent's office.
Due to the adoption of the new fingerprint-based national
background check regulations, we discussed whether subcontractors and
School Committee members should be fingerprinted. Superintendent Hyde
recommended that these two subgroups should not be required to do so.
Superintendent Hyde again informed us that the new law goes into
effect in 2016.
Lindsay Kett talked about home-schooling. She informed us that
13 students in Mashpee are currently home-schooled. Initially, she was
looking at policy written in 2004, and we discussed that there was ars
update in 201.1 and 2012. Mrs. Kett will be preparing a, new packet of
-i.nf rmation pertaining to home-schooling in Mashpee, including a new
application form.
The meeting adjourned at 3:46 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Joan Oliver
i
Mashpee School Committee Secretary
4
