KENNETH C.COOMBS SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2013 <br /> 3:00 P.M.-MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE DOOM <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> Meeting called to order at 3:10 p.m. <br /> In attendance:Please refer to sign in sheet <br /> No Public Comment <br /> Minutes: <br /> Review and approval of April minutes <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Elaine provided a brief update regarding the new playground. Nancy White is no longer our contact <br /> as she is no longer with this playground company.Meg O'Brien is the new Rep working with our <br /> school and has met with Elaine twice now and re-doing another draft of the initial design and <br /> adding a structure to the new pian. <br /> • There were minimal changes to the student/parent handbook which will be submitted to the school <br /> committee for final approval this week. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Reviewed the April Principal's Report and May calendar-see file. <br /> • Reviewed the May/June Calendar of Events and Spring events-see file.A very busy upcoming <br /> May/June is ahead. <br /> • Mrs. Penney provided an update regarding Flag Day.A few second grade classes will be singing <br /> songs at the Senior Center on June 4,2013. <br /> • Wendy provided an update of the many current and upcoming"Countdown to Kindergarten" <br /> activities and preschool and kindergarten registration. See file <br /> • Elaine provide an update and overview of the recent letter sent home to parents seeking input and <br /> feedback regarding their children related to next year's placement.Teacher requests are not <br /> honored however discussion regarding the importance of parent input related to placement was <br /> reviewed. <br /> • Mrs. Margie Mitchell presented an overview of the PEP grant, Field day and Nick Feldman Award. <br /> Students demonstrated an overall 90%improvement in exercise performance on the data collected <br /> from the PEP grant. <br /> * The next meeting Elaine asked for input and completion of the"ideas for new direction"form to <br /> help guide the direction of the school for next year. Elaine also encouraged the current school <br /> council to suggest and recruit members for the 2013-14 school council. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m. <br />
