KENNETH C.COOMBS SCHOOL SCHOOL COUNCIL TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2013 3:00 P.M.-MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE DOOM MEETING MINUTES Meeting called to order at 3:10 p.m. In attendance:Please refer to sign in sheet No Public Comment Minutes: Review and approval of April minutes Old Business: • Elaine provided a brief update regarding the new playground. Nancy White is no longer our contact as she is no longer with this playground company.Meg O'Brien is the new Rep working with our school and has met with Elaine twice now and re-doing another draft of the initial design and adding a structure to the new pian. • There were minimal changes to the student/parent handbook which will be submitted to the school committee for final approval this week. New Business: • Reviewed the April Principal's Report and May calendar-see file. • Reviewed the May/June Calendar of Events and Spring events-see file.A very busy upcoming May/June is ahead. • Mrs. Penney provided an update regarding Flag Day.A few second grade classes will be singing songs at the Senior Center on June 4,2013. • Wendy provided an update of the many current and upcoming"Countdown to Kindergarten" activities and preschool and kindergarten registration. See file • Elaine provide an update and overview of the recent letter sent home to parents seeking input and feedback regarding their children related to next year's placement.Teacher requests are not honored however discussion regarding the importance of parent input related to placement was reviewed. • Mrs. Margie Mitchell presented an overview of the PEP grant, Field day and Nick Feldman Award. Students demonstrated an overall 90%improvement in exercise performance on the data collected from the PEP grant. * The next meeting Elaine asked for input and completion of the"ideas for new direction"form to help guide the direction of the school for next year. Elaine also encouraged the current school council to suggest and recruit members for the 2013-14 school council. Meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
