COOMBS SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, MARCH 19,2013 <br /> 3:00 P.M. -MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> Meeting called to order at 3:15 p.m. <br /> in attendance: Please refer to sign in sheet <br /> No Public Comment <br /> Minutes: <br /> Review and approval of January and February minutes <br /> Correspondence: <br /> • Reviewed thank you letter from William Keating,Member of Congress. Staff present shared the <br /> very positive experiences and feedback from the K-2 letter writing Love Our Troops campaign. <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Reviewed January Principal's Report <br /> Reviewed February calendar <br /> • Dan O'Neill presented a Playground update to the PTO.4-5 parents expressed an interest in <br /> helping with the fundraising campaign.Discussion regarding possible grants and donations from <br /> cooperate sponsors was also suggested. Elaine requested any ideas be emailed to her. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Reviewed February Principal's Report.Julie Hall provided an update regarding the recent CFCE <br /> community and parent programs. <br /> • Reviewed March calendar.The Science Fair was well attended and positive feedback was shared. <br /> • Reviewed"Countdown to Kindergarten"schedule of events. <br /> • Elaine reviewed the handout detailing Staff Professional Development Days and their relevance. <br /> Discussion and input from parent council members was also shared related to preference for full <br /> day in-services in lieu of half days as challenging to find child care and time from work. <br /> • Eileen Manganella provided an update and overview of the social behavior programs taking place <br /> in school.She provided an update regarding her web page,reviewed the Second Steps Program, <br /> Kindness Week, Lunch Bunch groups. She also shared the work she is doing along with a <br /> graduate student this year.\ <br /> • Discussion and review of the handbook and School Goal update were deferred until the April <br /> meeting. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m. <br />
