COOMBS SCHOOL SCHOOL COUNCIL TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2013 3:00 P.M. - MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM MEETING MINUTES Meeting called to order at 3:15 p.m. In attendance: Please refer to sign in sheet No Public Comment Minutes: Review and approval of January 2013 was deferred until the March 2013 meeting Old Business: Discussion of old business was deferred until the March 2013 meeting New Business: Guest speaker, Mr. Jack Bonino, M.Ed., Director of Counseling attended this meeting on behalf of the originally scheduled presenter, Merrill Blum. Both individuals are from the NAM Vets Association of the Cape and Islands located in Hyannis, MA. This organization will be celebrating its 30th year in the spring. Mr. Bonino shared an overview of the organization and information regarding the pending opening of the Grace Center in Mashpee.This center will house the Mashpee Veteran's Affairs Office and provide community services, resources and support to veterans of Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq wars for both men and women. Brainstorming of potential collaboration and support from Mashpee Public Schools and this organization was also briefly discussed with future contact and discussion to be had once the facility opens in May. Other new business items on the agenda were deferred to the March meeting. Meeting adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
