COOMBS SCHOOL SCHOOL COUNCIL TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2013 3:00 P.M. - MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM MEETING MINUTES Meeting called to order at 3:10 p.m. In attendance: Please refer to sign in sheet No Public Comment Minutes: December minutes approved. Mrs. Penney requested the removal of her personal hand written notes on last months yellow draft school improvement plan which were copied and distributed inadvertently in today's meeting handouts. Old Business: • School improvement goals-copy distributed to council members New Business: • Mrs. Pender reviewed her December's Principal's report. • Review of January 2013 calendar. Grade one will be participating in a field trip to the Cotuit Center for the Arts arranged by Art teacher, Kim Palmer. • Discussion regarding updates and ongoing follow up to the emergency response protocol. Parent feedback was shared by our new parent member, Stephanie Bergonzi. Discussion regarding possible changes to dismissal. Parent drop off changes appear to be positive and working well. • The Giving Tree was a success and Mr. Souza did a great job with the slide show and this year's Santa was great with the children, • Maureen Paxton provided and update regarding the new federal lunch guidelines, use of lunch ID cards and counts. Pre-paying is a viable option for families. Notification via phone calls and envelopes to parents are completed as needed by Food Service staff. Students are able to charge and parents are notified after three unpaid charges. • Next month discussion regarding Countdown to Kindergarten and K-Grade one transition activities will be added to the agenda. • Mrs. Pender requested the school council members to please review the parent/student handbook prior to our next meeting and bring any changes/recommendations to the next meeting.
