The first step will be to work through the comments from the CCC and other agencies, and
perhaps set up meetings with the various commenters. One of their concerns relates to the
ownership of facilities as they move forward to finalizing the plan. They are going to be looking for
the documentation or the process of being started as to how to secure the various different sites.
2. Next step: to finalize the CWMP; the DRI is last. They probably won't conflict, but may add
conditions:
. Work with CCC to determine their timeline and make certain we can meet their requirements.
Torn Fudarla asked about doing a model run. Fick York and .Jeff Gregg agreed that model runs are
costly and are not feasible before ar final plan is in place.
Fick York summarized points from a letter from Marine Fisheries to Secretary Bartlett from EEA.
Marine Fisheries has reviewed our plan and are supportive of our options. Five Main Points of the
letter include:
1) Quantification of the recreational harvest. They are asking for more specifics as to the
quantification of the recreational harvest. Rick York stated that he is planning to increase harvest
patrol with surveillance cameras.
2 Buying one-inch seed from hatchery. Dick York wants to subtract the seed weight from the
harvest.
3 Want an idea of the area involved in planting of quahogs.
4) Question of enough left to restore the fishery
5) Question of the use of quahogs instead of oysters.
1
