William Martiros Unell Grundeman Gus Frederick Donald Clarke Robert Lancaster Lewis Newell CALL TO ORDER—Chairman Jeri Smith called the meeting to order at 5:20 PM. As there was no quorum, approval of the minutes from the June 18, 2013 meeting were postponed to the next meeting of the committee, REPORT FROM STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID VIEIRA Chairman Jeri Smith welcomed State Representative David Vleira to the meeting. Mr. Vieira reported the following on his recent activity on behalf of the South Cape Beach State Park. Mr. Vieira has conferred with Phil Weinberg at the state DEP agency about the possibility of providing running water at South Cape Beach State Park. According to Mr. Vieira, Horseneck Beach in Westport, MA. has cold water, with no soap allowed. If potable water is provided, testing of the water is required twice a week. Mr. Weinberg is looking into the possibility of getting around the testing requirement. Mr. Vieira was advised by the Committee that it is not seeking potable water for drinking fountains, but only to provide running water for showers to rinse off after swimming and before changing. Mr. Vieira reported that he had accompanied Dan Hunt, Joyce Mason and Catherine Laurent on a ride down .Wills Work Road, and was amazed at the size of the potholes on the road. Mr. Vieira plans to reach out to the National Guard to get their help with equipment necessary to do a temporary fix to the road until a more permanent arrangement can be made. Mr. Vieira stated that State Senator Dan Wolf would work with him on getting an environmental bond bill to pay for the work. Mr. Vieira stated that his efforts to find a registered deed for the land adjacent to Wills Work Road were unsuccessful, and it appears that there is no registered deed in existence for the property. WEBNERR REPORT—John Singleton. John Singleton reported that the new boardwalk from the parking area down to the beach was completed. A ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, August 6th had been rescheduled for the following Tuesday, August 13th at 2 PM, weather permitting. Mr. Singleton stated that new signage is being installed at the beach, and that beautification of the park was ongoing. The park is experiencing increased usage this summer, with all the improvements that have been made, including the new boardwalk, changing rooms, and additional picnic tables and grills.
