[Agenda topic'31 Lowell Holly Beach Closure k <br /> Discussion: In its May 2nd edition, the Mashpee Enterprise published the article stating that boat landing <br /> beach on Lowell Holly would be closed to motor boats, and marled off as a swimming area. Barbara <br /> noted the newspaper articles, and letters to the editor from folks not happy with the decision. Discussion <br /> was held among members, guests and Diane Lang, superintendent of Lowell Holly. The history of the <br /> problems over the last 8 years was discussed. Diane stated that the past two summers volunteers had been <br /> walking the beach and trying to get users to comply with the rules. Donald MacDonald, noted the <br /> reservation was "an awesome asset" and expressed interest in going back to the sticker program, with <br /> fees, that was in place several years ago. Paul McGrath noted that he supported the trustee's decision. <br /> One guest mentioned he had noted marijuana and drug use on the property and suggested the police do <br /> sobriety checks at the State ramp. Andrew noted that both the Harbormaster and Recreation Dept. in <br /> Mashpee were involved. Diane mentioned she had permission to post signs at the boat cramp noting the <br /> beach closure from the Public Access Board of Fish and wildlife. Andrew mentioned that the ramp <br /> coverage would be staggered and attended approximately 1:30- : 0 PM on weekends All were <br /> encouraged to call the Mashpee Police Dept. with any noted problems. <br /> Conclusion; A,cordial discussion about the beach closure at Lovell Holly was held. <br /> mom <br /> :.T [Agenda topic ] Spring lewslettr <br /> Discussion: Barbara presented the newsletter she had put together, after receiving Debi's article on <br /> washing buts to prevent the spread of invasive weeks. It was decided to rerun the Richardson Pondweed <br /> i <br /> article in order to get the newsletter out and available in the Town Hall when the sticker office opens next <br /> week. Barbara will submit it to Joyce Mason for her approval. Diane Lang mentioned that here is now ars <br /> invasive yellow iris on the Lovell Holly beach on M shpee Lake. <br /> Conclusions: The spring newsletter is nearly completed. <br /> [Agenda topic Co'm tt vacancy <br /> Discussion: This was Andrew Gottlieb's last meeting as Cbairman, as he was recently elected as <br /> Selectman. He will serve as liaison. Two vacancies need to be filled on the committee.
