Street light Committee June 11, 2013 Minutes Members Present: Rodney Collins, Chris Avis, Catherine Laurent Others: Joyce Mason, Geoff Spillane A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm. The minutes from the August 22, 2012 meeting were approved unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Street Light Location DPW has located 95% of the Town street lights through GPS and the GIS Coordinator generated maps. The Committee received copies of the maps. There are discrepancies between these locations, the list of lights from NSTAR, and the list of lights from Siemens, the Town's maintenance contractor. DPW will complete the mapping and work with NSTAR to rectify the discrepancies. LED Street Light Demonstration Project Cape Light Compact will be issuing the RFP for the project at the beginning of July. The Committee discussed the street lights located on private roads. Approximately 30% of the lights are on private roads. The Committee voted that the residents or associations for these private roads should be paying for the electrical and maintenance cost of the lights. A letter will be sent to each resident and/or the association advising them of this decision and giving them the option to reimburse the Town in order to retain the light(s). The Committee also decided to review the location of lights on Town roads. Chief Collins will assess in particular lights located in residential neighborhoods and whether they are required for safety reasons. OLD BUSINESS Light at Rte 151/Winslow Farms Drive The Committee voted to recommend installation of a light on Route 151 at the intersection with Winslow Farms Drive. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
