Street Light Committee
Wednesday, September 10, 2008
Minutes
Members Present: Bob Jutstrom, Rodney Collins, Catherine Laurent
quorum.being present, the meeting was called to order at . p.m..
OLD BUSMESS
The Committee recommended installation of two new lights at their last meeting and
approved by the Board of Selectmen, one on Red Brook Road at the new Fire Station}
another on Pimlico Pond load. Both have been installed.
The Committee also recommended that the Town take over maintenance of the light at
the Route 130 and Juniper Road intersection from the Lakewood Homeowners
Association. This is in process.
NEW BUSINESS
R. Collins agreed to have the Police Department develop a form for reporting and repair
of street lights. Patrolmen on the overnight shift will report lights in need of repair and/or
confirm reports of non-working lights. Reports to Republic Electric will be coordinated
between Detective B runt at the PD and DPW.
request for a street light at 256 Mashpee Neck load was received. The location is near
the intersection with Ivry Hollow Lane. Reviewing plans of the area, no discernable
safety concern was noted to justify need for a light in that location. C. Laurent will
contact resident making request.
The P 10 budget will be discussed at the next meeting. C. Laurent will review the
contract with Republic Electric for maintenance costs and will investigate the average
electric cost per light per year as well as the cost to temporarily"shut off' alight. The
electmen may need to consider a moratorium on installation of new lights as well as
shutting off lights, depending on the budget forecast.
The meeting adjourned at 2;45 p.m..
Respectively submitted,
ti
Catherine Laurent
