Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 7, 1994 <br /> JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL; <br /> Memo re: Attendance at the National Conference On Education <br /> The projected expenditure for two attendees; two nights, three days is <br /> approximately $2,710. The conference is scheduled on February 10-13, <br /> 1995 in New Orleans. <br /> Ms. Ahlgren noted that the Committee is also investigating the option <br /> of hiring a consultant to aid with the selection of furnishings. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Dinizio to authorize the attendance <br /> at the National Conference On Education from February 10-13, <br /> 1995 as requested for a sum not to exceed $3,000. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Vaccaro. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Gus Frederick re: Transportation Grant: <br /> Gus Frederick, Director of Leisure Services, Gordon Harris, Chairman <br /> of the Mashpee Youth Commission and Tom Fudala, the Town Planner <br /> were present to request the Board support a grant application for <br /> transportation funding. <br /> Transportation projects eligible under the transportation grant include; <br /> transit improvements such as summer trolley services, shared-ride services <br /> such as carpool programs and other trip reduction strategies. <br /> One of the programs under the Intermodal Surface Transportation <br /> Efficiency Act is funding for transportation projects that reduce vehicle <br /> emissions indicated Mr. Fudala. This program is entitled, the Congestion <br /> Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program. <br /> The Cape Cod Commission is requesting candidate projects for funding <br /> under this type of program noted Mr. Fudala. The deadline for application <br /> submission is Monday, November 28, 1994. <br /> Mr. Gordon recommended the Board explore the possibilities for <br /> affordable transportation to benefit Mashpee residents on a year round <br /> basis. <br /> Mr. Frederick requested the Board allow Mr. Fudala the opportunity <br /> to complete the components of the grant proposal prior to the deadline. <br /> Mr. Fudala indicated that it will take approximately 2-3 days to complete <br /> the grant application and its process. <br />
