6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 7, 1994 <br /> Sunday Openings: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Vaccaro to deny the <br /> Sunday Openings request. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Mills. <br /> VOTE: 2-1. <br /> Selectman Dinizio in opposition. <br /> PUBLIC DISCUSSION: <br /> Conservation Commission Chairman, Noni Ferriday requested the <br /> Board place on the agenda, the discussion of vandalism at the Mashpee <br /> River/Herring Run. Ms. Ferriday noted that the Conservation Commission <br /> submitted a memo to the Board regarding this concern. <br /> The Commission has requested to obtain a legal ruling from Town Counsel <br /> relative to penalizing those who have vandalized the flume and altered <br /> water levels. Ms. Ferriday asked if a reward for information leading to <br /> arrest and conviction could be offered by the Town. <br /> It was noted that the Board did not receive communication from the <br /> Conservation Commission regarding the vandalism,at this time. <br /> Ms. Ferriday indicated that this morning further damage to the water control <br /> structures on the Quashnet River were identified. The flume boards were <br /> altered and the main flume lock on John's Pond was damaged. <br /> *It is the consensus of the Board to obtain a legal ruling from Town <br /> Counsel as requested. The Police Department will be requested to <br /> increase patrol and prosecute to the fullest degree. Signs will be erected <br /> in the above areas for enforcement purposes. <br /> *Agenda Item, next week. <br /> Police Chief re: Secretarial Position: <br /> Police Chief Frye was present to discuss the position of Administrative <br /> Assistant to the Police Department with the Board. The recommendation <br /> was made by Chief Frye to begin the advertisement process at this time <br /> to allow the Administrative Assistant to become familiar with the position <br /> prior to the appointment of a new Police Chief. <br /> Chief Frye indicated that funds are currently available for the above <br /> position. It was noted that the present Administrative Assistant, Barbara <br /> Horton will be Ieaving the position as of December 30, 1994. <br />
