l <br /> Page 4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 23, 1995 <br /> Mashpee Village Update: <br /> It is the Board's understanding that 62 job applications were filed b <br /> Barnstable County residents for the Mashpee Village project. Of the <br /> PFJ <br /> 52 applicants, 18 were residents from the Town of Mashpee. Only one <br /> Mashpee resident was hired for the project. <br /> F The Board related concerns with regards to providing local job <br /> opportunities to Mashpee residents as stipulated in the project proposal. <br /> Mr.Haile indicated that he participated in the outreach for the community. <br /> � Y P P tY <br /> R s: <br /> The Community Builders and Crown Construction Company are in full <br /> compliance with the 30% hiring goal of Barnstable County residents <br /> indicated Mr.Hailey. <br /> irrra`r <br /> ` It was noted that a majority of subcontracting firms maintain their own <br /> s manpower for employment. At this time,there are no additional openings <br /> F g <br /> for employment opportunities related Mr. Hailey, <br /> U Mr.Hailey indicated that he will make an effort to re-visit the potential for <br /> new hires. In reality,we cannot create a job when a job is not available <br /> stated Mr.Hailey. Selectman Mills recommended to strongly encourage <br /> } the subcontracting firms to review the list of Mashpee applicants. <br /> P FP <br /> George Green,Vice-President of the Mashpee Wam anoa� Pe P g Tribal Council <br /> indicated that many residents applied for employment,but were not ted <br /> g <br /> ,,• an interview for the Mashpee Village project. <br /> Selectman Dinizio recommended the Board become more pro-active to seek <br /> ;T employment for Mashpee residents. We should ensure more Mashpee <br /> employment with the upcoming high school project indicated Selectman <br /> Dinizio. It was noted that the cityof Boston utilizes prevailing <br /> p g wage laws. <br /> =W *Consensus of the Board to review the Boston job policy.
