Page 1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 27, 1995 <br /> Present: Selectman Mills, Selectman Costa,Selectman Vaccaro,Selectman Dinizio <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Absent: Selectman Caffyn <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Mills at 6:30 p.m <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND BEARIN S- j <br /> Symmes, Maini & McKee - High School Plan Approval: <br /> The selected High School architectural firm• S <br /> g ymmes,Maini and McKee <br /> and members of the High School Building Committee were present to <br /> update the Board of Selectmen with regards to current budget projections. <br /> The School Superintendent and members of the School Committee <br /> were also present for discussion. <br /> Paul Griffin, Chairman of the High School Building Committee indicated <br /> that inflation rates are rapidly increasing. It is the recommendation of the <br /> Committee to place the project scope out to bid as soon as possible to allow <br /> the high school construction project to remain within budget constraints. <br /> i <br /> A list of additive alternates as prioritized by the Building Committee were <br /> presented for the Board's consideration. It was noted that the School <br /> Committee has not yet ranked the alternates to date. (enclosed) <br /> Mary Anne Gibbs,Chairman of the School Committee indicated that it is <br /> the consensus of the Committee to recommend that the school bid process <br /> begin. Dr. DeMoura, Superintendent of Schools also recommended to <br /> begin the bid process without further delay. <br /> It was noted that the 1180 core student facility is currently under budget <br /> if the alternates are not identified. The alternates will be included in the <br /> bid process for additional consideration. <br /> Selectman Vaccaro recommended the Board instruct the architect to move <br /> forward with the bid process as recommended. The list of alternates shall <br /> be subject to the approval of the School Committee. It was noted that the <br /> Board of Selectmen have the right to reject all bids. <br /> Mr. Griffin indicated that the project will be ready for bid within the next <br /> two weeks. The Board of Selectmen will be able to make a determination <br /> of the project scope and anticipated construction budget in early May. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Vaccaro to authorize the architect <br /> to begin the High School bid process as recommended pending <br /> approval of the School Committee of the project scope. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Costa. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
