Page 1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> Tuesday,March 21, 1995 <br /> Present: Selectman Mills, Selectman Dinizio <br /> Executive Secretary Robert whritenour <br /> Absent: Selectman Costa, Selectman Vaccaro Selectman Gaff <br /> yn <br /> Meeting convened: 7:30 p.m. <br /> EDUCATIONAL FORUM: ECONUMIC AREAS AND E N <br /> TARE �MI <br /> The Board conducted a workshop session on the designation of Economic ' <br /> • � Opportunity <br /> Areas (EOA's) and Economic Target Areas (ETA's)in the Town of Mash ee. <br /> P . <br /> Kathy McCabe,a consultant for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development <br /> was <br /> present to discuss the process with the Board. <br /> David Bailey,Director of Assessing, Tom Fudala,the Town Planner,Wayne D <br /> � y uchemin, <br /> the Economic Development Coordinator and Economic Development Committee Member <br /> Sid Stern Ted Lewis an P <br /> d Paul Reynolds were also present for discussion. <br /> Ms. McCabe indicated that the Cape is designated as an established ed E conornic Target Are <br /> Three program components of Economic Development Incentive art, <br /> P , <br /> Economic Target Areas <br /> Economic Opportunity Areas <br /> CertifiedProjects <br /> (TOP-Target Opportunity Projects) <br /> Economic Target Areas can be focused on commercial and industrial zoned areas ' <br /> or 1n art <br /> where the Town would like to spur further development. It was noted that ETA' <br /> prohibited . P s are <br /> p ted for use in residential areas,but may be considered for use in mixed <br /> residential/commerclal areas. <br /> Economic Opportunity Areas will allow for business growth and expansion,promote <br /> further . . gT P ,p ote <br /> economic stability and reduce chronic employment. <br /> Ms.McCabe indicated that EOA's are subject t to the approval of Town Meeting action. _ <br /> Each project is reviewed and evaluated on a case by case basis subject to Town Meeting <br /> J g <br /> approval. All Town Meeting votes are simple majority. <br />
