5 <br /> 4 <br /> F Page 1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> Apri124, 1995 <br /> Present: Selectman Mills, Selectman Costa, Selectman Vaccaro, <br /> Selectman Caffyn, Selectman Dint zio <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Meeting Called to order b Chairman Mills at 6:30 .m. <br /> y p <br /> i <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Economic Development Council: <br /> Susan Dahn and John O'Brien of the Cape and Islands Economic <br /> Development Corporation were present to discuss micro-loan <br /> funding opportunities with the Board of Selectmen. <br /> The Cape and Islands EDC is a private, non-profit organization chartered <br /> to increase employment opportunities,entrepreneurial initiatives <br /> business education and financing support for businesses through various <br /> economic development projects throughout the Cape indicated Ms.Dahn. <br /> Micro-loan funds can be provided to small businesses on the Cape <br /> through the Executive offices of Communities and Development's(EOCD) <br /> Ready Resource Program. <br /> A lead community is necessary to sponsor and manage grant activities <br /> related Ms. Dahn. It was noted that the Town of Mashpee currently <br /> manages grants from EOCD. <br /> As the lead community, the Town is entitled to a 6% fee or$24,000 to <br /> manage the grant indicated Ms. Dahn. The sum of$400,000 will <br /> be requested to service the towns of Mashpee, Bourne, Sandwich, <br /> Falmouth,Dennis, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to support the proposal <br /> as submitted by the Cape and Islands Economic Development <br /> Council to sponsor and manage the EOCD Ready Resource <br /> Program grant to provide micro-loan funds to small businesses <br /> on Cape Cod as outlined. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Costa. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
