i
AFS 0 i'
April 19, 1995 . . _
TO: Robert W. Whri tenour, Executive Secretary
r
FROM: Nancy J. Caffyn, Selectman
SUBJECT: Request fo-r information on ew employees in 1996 Budget
a
I would like to i ndi-cate my disappointment in not receiving specific
information, i ,e, salary, benefits, for new and approved but not funded
employees being considered in the 1996 Budget. I had asked for this
information in January and received a list of positions but no salary or
benefits. I asked again in March specifically for the April 10th meeting
and again my request was rebuffed with the excuse, "I couldn't get it done. "
I am not privy to a computer as you are and therefore, my request should
be very simple, My ha•vi-ng to pull this information together made no sense
at all . This in the past has been valuable data for the Board to use when
looking at the whole picture and understanding exactly how much we will be
spending on new employees and/or new programs. It was evident from the
April 10th Selectmen's Meeting that Chairman Mills was unsure of the number
of new employees. Contrary to comments in the paper regarding the issue,
the list I developed was the true cost of the new employees. Any expected
revenue to offset these costs are fisted under revenues and there is no
guarantee they will be reached. The amount listed for police was accurate
as it only portrayed benefits and medicare for two policemen, 25% share of
salary,
cc: Board of Selectmen
