f. <br /> Page 1 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 4, 1995 <br /> Present: Selectman Vaccaro,Selectman Costa, Selectman Dinizio, Selectman Mills <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant to the Executive Secretary Joyce Mason <br /> Absent: Selectman Caffyn <br /> Guests: Leonard Kopelman,Town Counsel <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Vaccaro at 6:00 p.m. <br /> �LR.POTNTNTENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearin -Tax Classification: <br /> Selectman Vaccaro opened the Public Hearing to hear public comment <br /> on the allocation of the tax levy by classification of property. <br /> Present: Water District Commissioners: <br /> Ed Baker, Russell Babcock,Deirdre Greelish <br /> Director of Assessing,David Bailey <br /> Assessors: Leslie Greig, Robert DeLory <br /> The Board of Selectmen met in joint convention with the Mashpee <br /> Water District Commissioners to determine whether each classification of <br /> property should have a different rate or whether the rate should be the <br /> same for all classifications. <br /> It was noted that no written or oral public comments were received <br /> regarding the allocation of the tax levy by classification. <br /> Mr. Bailey reviewed the classifications of property and made the following <br /> recommendations on behalf of the Board of Assessors, <br /> The Board of Assessors recommend to not adopt; <br /> a residential exemption <br /> a small business exemption <br /> and not apply a discount tax rate to open space. <br /> The Board of Assessors recommend the adoption of a split tax <br /> rate for commercial and industrial properties; adopting the <br /> residential factor of one. <br /> Being no further comment, Selectman Vaccaro closed the Public Hearing. <br /> It was noted that Selectman Vaccaro and Selectman Dinizio own businesses <br /> in the Town of Mashpee. Town Counsel has ruled that there is no conflict <br /> of interest for their participation on this subject matter. <br />
