a G I S AFFIRIAT E ACTION COMVfITTEE MEETING of JULY 83 2008 MA BPEE TOWN ISE Committee Members present: Janice Rhoden, Chairman, Katherine Brown, Marilyn Rollins. Marilyn Farren, AA/EEO and Selectman Cook(Bd, of Selectman liaison to the Committee)were also present during the meeting. Meeting convened at 5:3 p.m. Welcoming of New Members Chairman Rhoden welcomed new member, Marilyn Rollins. The other new member, Maryanne Wray, was not able to attend. Acknowledge, Shirleyetian from th Mash ee Anneni n Grow Shirley Setian attended the meeting to ask the Committee members to review material regarding Armenian Genocide. Janice Rhoden commented that since the committee members are just receiving the information,and other committee members are not present that she would like time to read it. Sbe stated that Ms. Setian will be invited to a future meeting. Ms. Setian commented that September or October would be late for them and wanted to get the thoughts of the committee. She commented that there would be more people at the next meeting. Chairman Rhoden responded that they will take it under adviisement, FIs. Setian said that there ISL a time crunch. Chairman Rhoden commented that she was not familiar with the issue, and that the other members who were not present at this meeting also needed time to read through the material and to do research for themselves at which time will be able to sit down as a group and discuss it. Selectman Cook said that she did a google search for information on the Armenian Genocide and commented that it took place in 1915 and wasart of the Ottoman Empire, p p In reviewing some of the material that Ms. Settanpresented, el. Cook commented that she was surprised to team of Mass. Municipal's statement about ending sponsorship. She asked for copies of the material to give to the Selectman. Ms. etian said that she is thrilled with`{No place for ate" .however, A.T.I.. is a denier and. our Government has recognized this. She commented that she wants the Committee to sever ties with A.D.L. and the"'No Place for Hate" ro am. p �` Chairman Rhoden commented that they are volunteers and that the Board of Selectmen set polio.
