AFFIRMATIVE ACITON COMMITTEE <br /> MEETING OF JANUARY 13, 2004 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> Committee Members Present: Jan Strickland, Chairman, Melbourne Cragwell, Norma <br /> Kumin, Trish Parolski, Teresa Cook and Marilyn Farren, Affirmation Action <br /> Officer/EEO, Also, present was Elaine Good. <br /> Meeting convened at 4:30 p.m. <br /> Vacancy on Committee <br /> Committee members welcomed Elaine Good to the meeting. Elaine is interested in <br /> serving on the committee. She responded to an advertisement in the Mashpee Enterprise <br /> regarding the vacancy on the committee created by the resignation of Gregory Enos. <br /> Elaine has been a Mashpee resident for fifteen years and is currently a full-time student at <br /> Cape Cod College. She indicated that she wanted to work with public policy and <br /> Affirmative Action. Terry Cook motioned to have Elaine Good appointed to the <br /> committee. Trish Parolski seconded the motion. All in favor. <br /> Signs <br /> Committee members commented that they were very happy to see the"No Place for <br /> Hate" signs which have been placed at all five entrances to the Town. <br /> "No Place for Hate"Representation Agreement <br /> Committee members reviewed and signed a "No Place for Hate"Representation <br /> Agreement at the request of the Anti-Defamation League. The agreement states that it is <br /> understood that the Town of Mashpee is prohibited from using the Program for purposes <br /> that are outside the scope of the authorized Program in the community and it is further <br /> understood that the Town of Mashpee does not have the authority to represent ADL or <br /> ADL's positions, without prior written consent of an authorized ADL representative. An <br /> agreement will be seat to committee members not present. <br /> Equity/Compliance Officer <br /> Jan Strickland said that he felt it was time for the town to look into a full-time Equity/ <br /> Compliance Officer position. This person would work for both the Town and the School. <br /> Members of the committee wanted to get an idea of what this person would do so they <br /> requested that George Spivey,Equity/Affirmative Action Officer for the Town of <br /> Falmouth, be invited to a future meeting. Trish commented that budgets have already <br /> been submitted and that it might be something we could look into for the future. <br />
