15 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 21, 2017 <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Review and Action on Draft#4 October Town Meeting Warrant: (continued) <br /> Article#5: To set aside the annual Community Preservation 10%Reserves. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to include Article#5 of the October warrant as written. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Opposed,none <br /> Article#6 and Article#7: Community Preservation—Pickleball Court Project <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the CPA project proposed to fund(8) dedicated Pickleball Courts <br /> with parking and site amenities. Two locations are being considered for the project. The Board of <br /> Selectmen acted as follows; <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to include and combine Article#6 and Article#7 into (1) <br /> article on the October warrant for a sum not to exceed$420,000 at one of the two locations as <br /> determined by the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Opposed,none <br /> Article#8: To fund a CPA project proposed to assist the Mashpee Housing Authority in the <br /> purchase of affordable homes in the Town of Mashpee. In the new buy-down program <br /> affordable rental homes would be purchased and administered by the MHA using CPA <br /> monies for down payment costs to maintain affordability. <br /> Leila Botsford, Executive Director of the Mashpee Housing Authority was in attendance to review the <br /> application submitted to the Community Preservation Committee to fund the $375,000 program. It is <br /> estimated that 2 to 3 units would be purchased with the down payment funding from the CPA. <br /> If the project is supported, existing homes for sale in the Town of Mashpee would be considered for <br /> purchase. The Mashpee Housing Authority would maintain ownership of the deed. With a deed <br /> restriction,the rental home would be counted as an affordable unit in the Town of Mashpee. More <br /> importantly,the home would help children and families. <br />
