Thomas <br /> seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> Department of Natural Resources Director Report: <br /> Ashley Fisher was appointed Shellfish Constable on August 13th 2018, leaving a <br /> vacancy for the Shellfish and Water Quality technician positon. She was congratulated by <br /> the board for her promotion. Summer Waterways Assistants have returned to college and <br /> left 2 vacancies in their place. The department is looking to fill temporary positions for <br /> the fall oyster season. <br /> 2019 shellfish seed budget was out from the October town warrant per 4-1 vote by <br /> the selectman (selectman Gottlieb not in favor of the articles removal from the warrant) <br /> in the September 11th selectman meeting because of late submission (several hours late of <br /> July the 9th), and thus an adaptive management plan was created to continue the CWNMP <br /> Phase 1 implementation. This will include shellfish grant expansion and alternative <br /> shellfish propagation methods. <br /> Local water quality improvements were noted in the Waquoit Bay areas of <br /> Hamblin pond, Little River and Great River during a final report given to the Board of <br /> Selectman by Brain Howes from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. In these <br /> areas local improvement was seen with a reduction of total nitrogen by 30-40% needed to <br /> achieve TMDL and restore water quality from the Phase 1 implementation of quahog <br /> seeding. <br />
