Motion.: Thomas made a motion to vote for the Shellfish Component of the CWNMP for <br /> 2019 at the next meeting held on October 9"', 2017 for further review. Motion seconded <br /> by Maruqes. All voted unanimously. <br /> Shel ash Aquaculture License area expansion:Hamblin Pond Hark Burtis and Claris <br /> Burtis: <br /> Mark and Chris Burtis expressed interest in expanding their aquaculture grant. <br /> Currently they have three year classes in the water and have had great growth. They are <br /> able to utilize a family owned site for business operations, and increase oyster seed to <br /> also support the town's phase 1 implementation of the CWNMP shellfish component. <br /> Motion: Marques voted to support the oyster grant expansion going forward. Holmes <br /> seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> Shellfish Volunteer Program discussion: <br /> Shellfish Constable Fisher is looking to start a town volunteer program to help <br /> thee Department of Natural Resources in water quality monitoring and shellfish <br /> propagation. The volunteer program would offer public education and promote the <br /> shellfish seeding program in Mashpee. Mr. Thomas suggested that the program be <br /> approved by the town manager and selectman prior to advertisement. Marques offered to <br /> help arrange and create the program alongside Fisher. <br /> Motion: Thomas suggested meeting with the appropriate selectman and or town officials <br /> to start the program moving forward. Marques seconded the motion. All voted <br /> unanimously. <br /> Request for Board Secretary: <br /> Shellfish Constable Fisher suggested that the Shellfish Commission request a <br /> board secretary. The board has previously displayed interest in having secretary there to <br /> formulate the minutes in a timely manner. The board also recommended a secretary to <br /> accurately capture what was voted on during the meetings. <br /> Motion: Marques made a motion to request a board secretary to be present at all future <br /> meetings. Holmes seconded themotion.
