J
Connecting veterans, families and the community since 1983
r ^" 2.47 Stevens Street, Suite F • Hyannis, MA 02601
`. OUTRE.M1, 1 508.778.1590 • Fax 508,778,1094
www.capeveterans.com
In the past two years however, we have seen to it that the building is fully insured and have
made the following improvements:
• $2,850 worth of landscaping and parking repairs with the collaboration of the
Peninsula Council and their contacts in exchange for a one month abatement of
the rent they have paid us since we allowed them to move in within twenty four
hours of the flood damage done to their prior office
• $3 00 0 worth of clean-up of storm damage, and repair of some rodent infestation,
again with the Coordination of the Peninsula Council which helped us to bring the
bill to about $1500 with the help of Mashpee businesses, Quality Tree and Fix-.All
Cape Cod.
• We have also had the deck power-washed and stained, for about $1000, one
fourth of what it would have cost without the collaboration of local vendors.
• Finally, we are in the process of repairing some leakage from the skylights
brought to our attention by the Peninsula Council using the proceeds from an
insurance claim which we filed. We are also pursuing cost estimates for exterior
power washing and staining.
In addition to the specific examples above of simple maintenance of the building which we view
as a significant asset to be carefully preserved, we have begun consulting with service providers,
certification experts and architects in order to further our intent to provide a much needed Senior
Veteran Day Care on the first floor of the building. We are currently in the process of selling our
Hyannis facility, and in our strategic planning have included the use of a portion of those funds to
begin our renovations of the Grace Building base on the required specifications of a senior day
care center.
The maintenance and improvement of this building, which is one of our most valuable assets, has
always been and will remain one of our highest priorities. The reciprocal collaboration of many
constituents in the Mashpee community in assisting us in that goal has been genuinely appreciated.
-- Serving Veterans of All Conflicts and Eras -
