This site is not presently being used and was totally overgrown with weeds until
the recent working group took on the actual clearing the site, with some help from the
DPW. They plan to apply for CPC funding to redesign the space, upgrade the garden
beds and pathways, and install electricity at the site. They will meet with the Historic
District Commission to decide on appropriate fencing for the area because the gardens
are located within the Mashpee Historic District. They are very supportive of the
Mashpee Historic Commission's plans for the use of the area from the Community Park
up to the Community Gardens for Veterans Memorials, and a good working relationship
has been established.
Brian moved to approve the minutes from our Meeting on August 16, 2018. The motion
was seconded by Rosemary. .
On August 16, Brian, Richard and Ava attended the CPC meeting. The CPC has
granted funds to be allocated for the Veterans War Memorials project which will be done
in Phases I - IV. As the project goes forward, we will be requesting more funding.
Phase I will be having all the war memorials, in place by 2020 — a year of celebrations
by all Cape Cod towns in reference to the landing of the Pilgrims, and more specifically
for Mashpee, the 150th Anniversary of Mashpee becoming a Town.
