Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday, September 20, 2018 <br /> Mashpee Town Hall—Ockway Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members Present: Steve Cook, Joe Brait, and Tom O'Neill <br /> Absent: Geoff Gorman <br /> Also Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Joe Brait motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of July 12, 2018 as written; and Tom <br /> O'Neill seconded the motion. <br /> Vote: 3 Yes; Unanimous. <br /> Steve Cook,yes. Tom O'Neill,yes. <br /> Old Business <br /> Update on Quashnet School Window/Roof Protect <br /> Overall, the main work is proceeding satisfactorily and the project is ahead of schedule. The GC <br /> is expecting to have completed all phases by November 1. The punch list for phases completed <br /> is still pending. There have been other issues related to work completed. A roof seam was not <br /> adhered resulting in a water leak in a smoke detector. The detector had to be replaced. Pieces <br /> of cast iron from demolition of bathroom fixtures fell into the sewer line resulting in a clog in <br /> one of the student bathrooms. The issue was identified when DPW had the line video <br /> inspected when the clog wouldn't clear. The plumbing subcontractor is in the process of having <br /> the pieces removed; the bathroom is shut down. The Town has requested video inspection of <br /> other sewer lines as a guarantee that a similar situation doesn't exist elsewhere. <br /> Recommendation for Proposed Change Order <br /> Change Order No. 5 was discussed. There would be a net addition of approximately$15,000 <br /> to the project cost. A final amount for one the work items is still pending but a decision is time <br /> sensitive.
