Seconded by Beverly Wooldridge. vote was unanimous. <br /> Chairman Bob rvooldrige introduced Jeff Do gan from the Mass Office of Disabilities who <br /> came to discuss some items and to give us some guidance. <br /> a. Handicapped Parking Regulations and Polices_ <br /> Bob said one issue the committee wanted to discuss is the handicap parking regulations and had <br /> questions regarding the lame lots that serve multiple businesses with multiple entrances and the <br /> location of the handicap spots_ ,teff noted the Mate Building Code is based on the number of <br /> parking spaces provided in a lot. The numbers would dictate the number of handicap spots. <br /> What would be prudent is to have the spots equally dispersed. <br /> Charles Maintanis explained Mashpee Commons is one big lot and multiple streets. other <br /> conditions such as Industrial Drive have a strip mall type of situation. <br /> There was a discussion regarding the parking at the Mashpee Commons. Jeff Dougan referred to <br /> the ADA Regulations which would be triggered when they restripe the parking lot. Until they <br /> refigure or upgrade the facility nothing can be done but there may be some tax incentive they can <br /> use. Once they restripe, they will need to be in compliance with the ADA.regulations. and loop <br /> at the entrances they have. There is no enforcement level on the local level, it is a federal level. <br /> When Mashpee Commons goes to the next phase, the Planning Board could put restrictions on it <br /> to meet the federal standards. <br /> Jeff Iougan distributed the Disability Rights Laws in Massachusetts to the members.
