5 <br /> Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Mnutes <br /> Wednesday, February 5, 2014 <br /> FIRE&RESCUE DEPARTMENT:,(continued) <br /> Purchase X21 Utility Vehicles- $41,000 per Vehicle: <br /> I 1 � I I ���1 <br /> In the capital program as outlined,the F250 Expedition 4WD four door vehicle <br /> would have a higher ground clearance and allow for the transport of equipment to <br /> satisfy the Chief s needs. <br /> It was explained that all vehicles would be identical, labeled and striped to allow <br /> for multi-use functions Within the department. <br /> Con unication Egjgpmen SAD PiVatch- $150.000.. <br /> In the CIP budget, Chief Rullo has proposed to upgrade portable radios, in-vehicle <br /> computers,and purchase emergency alerting hardware and software for the Fire <br /> Department's to stations. <br /> Upon receipt of a 911 emergency in the station,the equipmmt would provide <br /> responders with visual alerts and printed data enabling a faster response with <br /> automated location information. vehicle computers with updated Computer <br /> Aided Dispatching(CAD) are outlmed in the estimate to outfit nine vehicles. <br /> Vehicle computers were previously purchased for three vehicles. <br /> The updated equipment would allow for the tracking of all available Fire/Rescue <br /> vehicles in Barnstable County instantaneously to determine the closest apparatus <br /> to the incident to dispatch appropriate response. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to mutual aid,and the future of regional <br /> dispatch. It was noted theproject s outlined remains in its infancy stage the <br /> Sheriff is in the process of,preparing for the feasibility study. Several years ago a <br /> federal grant was identified to assist in the development of a regional solution, <br /> and currently, a project of this magnitude is a lame hurdle for the entire Cape. It <br /> was agreed that regional support would reduce costs. Hoever,the capital project <br /> may be a premature expenditure for the Town of Mashpee at this time. <br /> GIS units have been out-fitted with latest laptops purchased by the IT Department <br /> having capabilities to locate programs,provide mapping,addresses,and pre-ire <br /> plans beneficial to the Town at this time to improve response. <br />
