Community Preservation Cottee <br /> Minutes <br /> June 4, 201 <br /> Review v of CPA Projects_proposed for October 2013 Town Meeting: (continued) <br /> At the last meeting,the Community Preservation Committee discussed the <br /> possibility'of phasingimprovements to the John's Pond Beach and Great River <br /> Boat Ramp. In response to the Committee's suggestion,the DPW Director gave <br /> an overview of a three-year phasing proposal for the referenced projects. <br /> John's Pond Beach-$326, 00: <br /> The goal of the John's Pond Beach is to improve the recreational facilities of the <br /> } beach by reconstructing and enlarging the parking lot, constructing a picnic <br /> pavilion, building a storage facility with permanent restroom facilities, and <br /> purchasing playground equipment. Site furnishings are included in the project <br /> proposal earmarked for CPA funding. This includes benches,picnic tables, grills <br /> and bicycle rads. <br /> The recreational project in the three-year phasing progrann considers in phase I, <br /> parking lot improvements and site utilities, in phase II,the playground structures, _ <br /> ADA compliant surfacing and site furnishings. To bring the project to <br /> completion,the shade pavilion, storage building and restroorus would be <br /> completed in phase III to bring forth a total projected cost of$345,000. <br /> It was noted the beach is well used by the public, and during the summer it is <br /> frequently used by the Kids Klub and Boys&Girls Club. The park is enjoyed by <br /> all residents, and improvement would increase tourism in the Town of 1 lashpee. <br /> It is estimated the paving+and reconfiguration of the parking would be completed <br /> in approximately eight months. The project in total with the projected phasing <br /> would be completed by the summer of 2014. <br /> Great River Boat Ramp P rking!prove eats - $650,000: <br /> The Great River Boat Rarnp is one of the Town's three public launch.facilities. <br /> The project would completely reconstruct the landing,the Pier and attached <br /> floating docks. In addition, the aging pki.ng facility would be reconstructed and <br /> enlarged. The projct is supported by the Harbormaster and waterways <br /> Commission. - <br />
