w <br /> Mashpee Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> June I ,20I at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Town Hall, Meeting Boon] <br /> Present: Chairman John Cahalane, George Petersen, Rick York <br /> Absent: Ted Theis, Peter white <br /> BALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was opened by Chairman Cahalane at 7:00 p.m. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There was no public comment. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Setting Priorities for Committee Accomplishments for the Next Year <br /> It was determined that the Committee would not meet in July and August and seek two <br /> additional members to join the Committee- The Chair suggested starting again in September <br /> with a focus on specific projects for the Committee. Regarding reorganization, Chairman <br /> Cahalane reported that, at their next meeting, the Board of Selectmen would consider rotating the <br /> Chairmanship of the Committee so that it would not be permanently chaired by a Selectman. <br /> Reorganization of the officers would take place in September. Committee members were in <br /> agreement to focus on 2-3 relevant projects. <br /> ACTION I'T'EMS UPDATE <br /> Santuit Pond '"mater Quality <br /> Focus on Santuit Pond water quality was an item identified as a priority for the corning year. Mr. <br /> York reported that there was currently no arae bloom in Santuit Pond. <br /> Phosphorus Management for Fresh Water Ponds <br /> It was suggested that a more user friendly version of the Zero Phosphorus Lawn Fertilizer Bylaw <br /> be pursued as another priority for the conning year. Mr. Petersen suggested establishing a <br /> voluntary lawn fertilizer program. It was noted that an education program may be more effective <br /> than a bylaw. Mr. Petersen recommended finding out whether Santuit fond residents were <br /> i <br />
