J <br /> TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> SOUTH CAPEBEACH STATE PARK <br /> ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, September 9, 2008 <br /> Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: <br /> Jerafyn Smith, Chairman Carey Murphy Alanto <br /> IMI V <br /> Ben Lofchie Gus Frederick <br /> , M <br /> Michael Cardeiro Lance Lambros <br /> William Martiros Frank Connelly JUN 0 2 2009 <br /> Steven Pinard Robert Lancaster <br /> Lewis Newell <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> CALL TO ORDER OF MASHPEE <br /> Chairman Jeralyn Smi#h caped the meeting to order at 6:05 PM. <br /> APPROVE MINUTES OF 8105I08 <br /> A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve as presented the minutes from <br /> the meeting of 8105108. <br /> VANDALIZED MEMORIAL PLAQUE <br /> Allan Morris reported that the memorial plaque, which was installed close to three years <br /> ago, had been stolen from the stone in which it was set, at the entrance of the path to <br /> the beach. Allan stated that he would like to see it replaced and would be willing to help <br /> pay to have a new plaque reset in the stone. Allan also presented the idea of changing <br /> the location of the memorial stone to the area Rear the flag pole. <br /> Ben Lo#chie made a motion that the Committee replace the memorial plague. Michael <br /> Cardeiro seconded the motion. Discussion followed. It was suggested that a material <br /> other than copper be used for a replacement plaque, to discourage any future recurring <br /> thefts of the memorial. Jeri Smith stated that Jack Cramer, former Chairman of the <br /> committee, had handled the details of purchasing the plaque, having it engraved and <br /> installed. Jeri Smith will contact Mr. Cramer for information regarding the wording on the <br /> plaque, where it was purchased, and the cost of the materials. The motion made by <br /> Ben Lafchie was tabled until the next committee meeting when more information <br /> becomes available as to what will be involved in replacing the memorial plaque. <br /> ALLAN MORRIS REPORT—CONCERNS AND SUGGESTIONS <br /> 1. Work on the Storage Area— Bayberry Parking Lot <br /> Allan Morris stated that one of his long term objectives is to clean out the storage yard <br /> located at the Bayberry Parking Lot. There is snow fencing and old beach equipment <br /> there that is rusting and is useless. Allan Morris stated that he plans to work out an <br /> arrangement with the Mashpee town dump to haul away the debris. After the area is <br /> cleared, Allan wants to brush cut and level the parking lot, then trim the fencing to make <br /> it afuns#ionai storage area. Allan Morris reported that during this past summer on friday <br /> mornings when guided tours emanated from the parking lot, the gate to the parking lot <br /> was left open, and cars gang to the town beach entered the lot to park there.
