3
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
November 19, 2018
APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS
Annual Tax Classification Public Hearing: Assessor Jason Streebel TreasurerlTax Collector
Craig Mayen: (continued)
A residential factor of"1" results in the taxation of all property at the same rate. Each property
class pays its full cash valuation share of the tax levy. A split tax rate, a residential factor of less
than "1"reduces the share of the tax levy paid by the residential and open space classes and
increases the share paid by the commercial, industrial and personal property classes,
With no shift or exemptions,the tax rate level is $8.92. Mr. Streebel indicated that values rose
by 3.7% which resulted in a new growth value of$87,666,396. New growth, approximately
$500,000 is comprised of added construction in the Southport community, in Mashpee Commons
and from The Cottages in New Seabury. This has improved the new growth levy; $781,985 to
bring forth the same tax rate level of 8.92% in FY2018.
Being no comment, the Board of Selectmen motioned as follows;
Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to close the Public Hearing.
Motion seconded by Selectman.
