Ms. Swain commented that the Yarmouth Pantry Service Center serves all Cape Cod residents. <br /> Brenda Swain expressed her gratitude to the Mashpee Human Services for the increase in financial <br /> assistance to FSC this year. She added that the FSC could always use more volunteers from <br /> Ma tepee. Gail Wilson n expres ed her gratitude to Brendan Swain for her participation in the meeting <br /> today. Ms. swain asked if we would be considering some type of multi-service center in the future. <br /> Ms. Wilson replied that this would be a long-terra goal. <br /> • Public Relations n utrea h Subcommittee Report—Janice Walf rd <br /> Janice Walf rd distributed copies of her report to the committee. Highlights include the following, <br /> . New Mashpee Human Services Brochure: now at the printer's, 250 copies will be <br /> ready in three days. Gail Wilson will inquire as to printing pricing for 250/500/1000 brochures. <br /> . Fuel Assistance Program: the first monthly colurnn in the Ma shpee Enterprise wiII <br /> highlight the MHS fuel assistance program. <br /> . Monthly Program on M sh ee : still waiting for word of a new director and the <br /> schedule for a trained volunteer crew. Ideas for possible shows are gratefully received. Janice <br /> W lford stated that they are not just looking for"tanking head" programs, but are hoping foron-site <br /> shows, and statistics information for viewers. <br /> . Website improvements: eroni a Warden recommended making the wording simplified <br /> and direct so it is easily understood by readers as to what the Human Services Department is all <br /> about. <br /> . Reaching Out to Local Organizations to Enlist Support:Janice Walford reminded the <br /> committee of the finding by the deeds Assessment study that the Human services Committee <br /> (HSC) needs to educate the many local groups and organizations in M shpee about the Human <br /> Services mission. Presentations could be made to inform local clubs such as the Kiwanws and <br /> others who take on community service projects about who we are, what we d , what we offer. <br /> M .11'lllford provided a list of local organizations that could be very helpful to the HBC in carrying out <br /> its mission. <br /> . Access to the Human Services Office Monday through Fridaysr 9 t : Janice Walford <br /> stated that volunteers are needed to provide MiF- 9 to 4 staffing of the Human Services office in <br /> order to ensure that the building has its arms open to those in need. Volunteer staff would allow the <br /> Director to concentrate on service delivery, making presentations, and attending required meetings <br /> outside the office. Suggestions were made for naming the building, such as "Human services <br /> Center}' or "Center for Human Services". Lynne Waterman stated that by the first week of <br /> December, 2013, two volunteers would be assigned to the Human Services office. <br /> • Human services Coordinator's Report rt— 10/17/2013 <br /> Gail Wilson distributed copies of her report to the committee. Highlights from the report included the <br /> following <br /> 1. Attendance at a bullying assembly at the I lashpee Middle School presented by MARC <br /> (Massachusetts Aggression Deduction Center), at Bridgewater State University. The focus <br /> was specifically on Cyberbullying and the new Bullying laws. <br /> . Fuel Assistance Program — starting the week of October 2 , 2013. <br /> . Sight Loss services — Cynthia Stead would like to attend the Human Services <br /> Committee meeting on December 19, 2013 to present her program. <br /> • Human services FY 2015 Budget Review <br /> Galli Wilson requested that the discussion regarding contracts be postponed until the November 21' <br /> meeting because many of the contract renewals have not yet submitted their proposals. Lynne <br /> Waterman and Gail Wilson will be meeting with VNA on November 30th to go over what they are <br /> doing with our contract and what services will be covered. <br />
