Mr. Chabot stated that % of those served by St. Vincent de Paul are Mashpee residents. The
individuals corning are from all ages, ranging from young families to retirees.
Mr. Chabot stated that all individuals corning to St. Vincent de Paul for assistance are required to
register, in order to prove that they qualify as a needy case. $51,000 has been spent on Needy
Cases through September 30, 2013, averaging out to roughly $100,000 per year.
Clothing needs and furniture are available at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift shop, located on Route
28, in C tuft. Mr. Chabot never turns down a request for help if at all possible. Vouchers are given
to individuals who are in need of clothing, for use at the thrift shop.
Twice per month the St. Vincent de Paul volunteers deliver dinners to needy cases at homeless
-centers. There are also 14 Friendly Visitors who make calls on individual cases. At Christmas time
f year, the agency places a Giving Tree on either side of the Christ the Ding church altar, with
envelopes for parishioners to fill with donations and/or gift cards for needy families to use for
Christmas gifts. Lynne Waterman agreed to put Nor. Chabot in touch with the Navigator r program at
the Barnstable Counter Health and Human services.
Mr. Chabot summarized his presentation by stating that in general, things are going well: they are
well staffed and the volunteers are motivated. The most crucial need of the agency now is a new
building with more space. Their packing room is too small - 2000 square feet of space is needed. A
centrally located Iashpee service Center would be the ideal solution.
OLD BUSINESS
• Thanks for Giving Award Ceremony
Gail Wilson stated that she notified George Baker and Ruth Provost about their receipt of the
Thanks for Giving Award for 2013.
