PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES
MEETING OF APRIL 20, 1995 PAGE
Carole Durfivan said that she was still not happy with some of the grades. She com-
mented again that the Inspector positions are in a grade 9. Carole commented that some
towns pay a lot more in certain positions and that we have people quitting. Joe asked
that Carole point out an area. Carole said that the Assistant Town Accountant and the
Assistant Conservation Agent. Bob W. commented that other things played into the
turnover of the Assistant Conservation Agent.,
Reference was made to the job description review. Meg said that information was taken
from the questionnaire that each employee filled out, It was then read and reviewed by
the supervisor. The employee was interviewed, A draft of the job description was seat
back to each employee. Some of the supervisors requested additional fnetions be listed.
Meg said that any item of importance was included.
Bob W. recommended that they leave the Plumbing, Gas, and Wiring inspector positions
alone. He commented that they require a tremendous amount of experience. The Wire
Inspector, for instance, inspects work of every inspector in Town. He said that the
Assistant Town Accountant position should be looped at again to see if it should be
placed in a Grade 9. With regard to the Assistant Town Planner position, it should he
left where it is. Carole said that she would be happy if the Assistant Town Accountant
position was placed in a Grade 9. Meg said that the positions were looped at twice and
the Assistant Town Accountant was placed at Grade 8. Joe asked why it didn't fall into
a higher grade? Bob W. commented because they did a lousy job on the job description.
After further discussion Carole moved that the Board accept the proposed salwy
schedule with the amendment of the Assistant Town Accountant position being placed in
(rade 9. Ron Levine seconded the motion. All in favor.
The Board will now present the study to the Board of Selectmen which is scheduled for
April 2 . After it is presented to the Board of Selectmen, copies of the study will be sent
to the Finance Committee to ask them if they have any questions,
All expressed concern about the timing commenting that if it does not happen for the
May Town Meeting, then they will get the support of the Selectmen for the October
Town Meeting. Joe D. commented that he did not want to delay it until October. Ah
agreed.
