Walter was unable
to provide the presentation in print since the information was still under review and due to USGS
policy. BA ST and the Cape Cod Commission had been briefed earlier in the day. Mr. Walter
expected that the final reports with documented results, would be available by the end of the
summer..
Mr. Walter stated that the solute transport model was utilized in order to enhance the
implementation of TN4DLs for nitrogen. The original watersheds had been completed in 2003
for the MEP analysis. An additional project utilized particle tracking to estimate.the nitrogen
loads and can quantify mass moving through the ponds. The current project had some delays,
but additional technology was developed making the project possible. The objective was to
improve implementation of the TNMLs with improving the accounting of the nitrogen mass and
determining the tinning of the response of the estuary. The model can be used to evaluate the
systems response to the Towns wastewater management actions. The approach began with a sub-
regional model of Popponesset Bay and incorporated the solute transport methods, beginning
with the parcel scale water use data for current conditions, along with wastewater management
actions received from Mashpee, in order to evaluate the wastewater management actions and
how it would affect the loads. Mr. Walter noted that attenuation dispersion and de-nitrification,
