Sever Cornrm'ssion has two sources of funds, the state revolving loan that funds the work of
GED and the $40,000 account.
Commissioners agreed to create two different Articles, specifying that the funds be placid in the
same existing account. The second Article Will supplement the funds ofthegeneral account and
will incorporate funds needed for public information materials as well as increase funding for
needed consulting services. Mr. Lyon questioned whether the Board of Selectmen can reduce
the amount of the funds requested and the Chair responded that they can. Commissioners
discussed whether $71,500 wotdd be sufficient funds. Mr.Klenert recommended that benefits
from the $401,000 that has been spent be communicated to the BOS and the public. The Chair
will look at the accounting. Mr. Klenert also expressed concern that the funds considered for the
contract person is too low and recommended requesting $75,000. Commissioners discussed
sub stanti ting the request. Mr. Klenert felt that the qualifications needed for the individual
would require a higher fee, along with reimbursable expenses. Mr. Malarkey recommended that
the first Article request $60,000 for the contractor and the second Article request $15,000,
including $7,500 in public information materials and $7,500 to supplement costs for additional
consulting. All four members present agreed to recommend the amounts to the full Sever
commission.
Mr. Lyons referenced an education program airing on Mashpee public television, stating that it
would be appropriate for the website. It was recommended that Mr. Lyons contact Comcast for
more information. Mr. Lyons inquired about a reap located on the website and the Chair
reported that GED is working on adding the main roadways. Mr. Lyons also referenced a
January 08 map based on MEI'reports but the Chair stated that it does not reflect an appropriate
characterization because 100% cannot be treated and is an unrealistic scenario.
A motion was made to place on the agenda a request for two letters from the Sever
Commissiom
Roll Call Vote: Mr. enert-yes; Mr. Malarkey-yes; Chairman 'n fa-yes; Mr. Lyons-yes
Sever Commission Letters
Mr. Malarkey requested that a letter be drafted on behalf of the Sever Commission, to be seat to
the Town Manager, requesting space in Town Hall for the kiosks. The Chair thought he had
drafted the letter and Will look into it. In addition, Mr. Malarkey requested that the Sewer
Commission send a letter to the Enterprise requesting active participation from volunteers to
assist with public education. Commissioners discussed the Community Advisory Committee and
the limited participation of appointed members. The Chair noted that five_of the members are
appointed by the Board of Selectmen but that other members have been appointed by other
communities and committees. Commissioners discussed the need for volunteers to maintain the
kiosks but Mr. Lyons suggested that volunteers mn"l l not be.needed until the publications are
available. Commissioners discussed the appropriateness of kiosks at the grocery stores but
recommended considering locations such as Town Hall, library, schools or bans.
MEETING ADJOURNMENT
